The WELO Medal Structure recognises excellence across individual performance, team collaboration, composite linguistic endurance, and overall national achievement.

Medals are awarded separately for the Junior and Senior Divisions in all eligible competitive disciplines.

No cross-division comparison is applied.


1. Individual Discipline Medals

In each eligible discipline, the following medals are awarded:

  • Bronze Medal

Medals are awarded separately for:

2. Team Discipline Medals

Team-based disciplines award medals to the team as a unit.

  • Gold Team Medal
  • Silver Team Medal

All participating team members receive official recognition.

Team disciplines include:

  • Lexical Sprint
  • Poetry & Rhyme
  • Nations Showcase
  • Debate (Senior only)
  • Story Chain (Junior only)

Medals are awarded separately by division where applicable.


3. Lingua Multi-Event Composite Medals

The Lingua disciplines represent integrated, multi-skill endurance competitions.

Each Lingua discipline awards:

  • Gold Medal
  • Silver MedaL
  • Bronze Medal

Separate medals are awarded by division according to eligibility.

Lingua disciplines include:

  • Lingua Triathlon (Junior & Senior)
  • Lingua Quadrathlon (Senior; optional Advanced Junior)
  • Lingua Pentathlon (Senior Elite level)

These medals are considered high-prestige awards due to:

  • Integrated skill performance
  • Extended format
  • Increased academic complexity
  • Cognitive endurance requirements

4. TOEFL iBT Discipline Medals

The TOEFL iBT Discipline is treated as a competitive academic benchmark discipline within the WELO Finals.

Awarded separately for:

  • Junior Division
  • Senior Division

Countries accumulate points across all medal-eligible disciplines.
