Subcommittees support the work of the WELO Governing Committee by focusing on specific strategic and operational areas of the organisation.
The current subcommittee structure was established and confirmed during the Governing Committee meeting on 26 May 2025. Each subcommittee is led by a Vice-Chair of the Governing Committee and contributes to the development and implementation of the WELO framework.
Subcommittees provide expertise, support policy development, and assist in coordinating activities across participating countries. Their work is conducted under the governance framework defined by the WELO Charter and under the oversight of the Governing Committee.

Vice-Chair for Academic & Assessment Affairs
This subcommittee oversees the development of academic standards, competition structure, judging frameworks, and collaboration with the Founding Assessment Organisation.
Its work supports the integrity, consistency, and educational quality of WELO competitions and related programmes.

Vice-Chair for Agencies & Public Tender Regulation
This committee supervises the selection of national representatives through the WELO public tender process and monitors compliance with established guidelines.
Its responsibilities include oversight of quota implementation, national governance alignment, and the development of procedures supporting national representation within the WELO framework.

Vice-Chair for Sponsorship, Brand & External Relations
This committee supports the development of global partnerships and sponsorship initiatives, as well as the coordination of WELO’s international outreach activities.
It also oversees brand consistency and external communications to ensure coherent representation of WELO across participating countries and partner organisations.
